Most country style décor involves decorating cottage and vice versa. Cottage is a home style that mostly appears in places in countryside or forest. Cottages normally belong to the peace or nature lovers, and the recluse. Most of them are located in the woods or around the rural area. So if you want to decorate a cottage, just think of decorating a country home as they share the same atmosphere.

To decorate a cottage, you need to think of your budget first as the country style can costs a lot of money. The wooden furniture, natural stuffs, handmade accessories, and wild stuffs which match cottages have high price. So manage your budget and plan on buying decorative stuffs before you do it.

On furniture, it is alright to take old furniture from your home to put in your cottage. Slip covers, cushion, chairs covers, and curtains need to be in earth tone. However, it can be in light to medium shades. Colours of decorating fabric then can be green, brown, grey, light yellow, or maybe terracotta and can also be bold colours. Perhaps painting the furniture can make it look new. The walls might not be painted but its colour should be in the same shade as the accessories and the decorating fabric. The theme of the overall look inside a cottage should be warm and comfortable.

The floor of a cottage should be natural wood in order to make sure that it fits the style. Furniture, again, should all be made of natural wood like birch, pine, and cedar. The wooden furniture should be in the original form in order to provide rustic feel. Apart from wood, something natural or something from forest or wildlife alike stuffs are also good deck.

Decorating fabrics in a cottage should be something close to nature as well. The pattern of the fabric should keep the atmosphere warm and cozy. The plain fabric or the floral ones goes along well with wooden country style of a cottage. The material used for fabrics should also be something close to nature. Thus, cotton should be chosen before other kinds of material. Lace is something good to decorate your cottage as well. The fabrics can be bedspreads, slip covers, window coverings, cushion, and even mats. Also, in this style, you can find the decks from your surroundings or your garden; for example you can take some flowers from the nearby woods or in your garden, and take some natural items from the natural road side or in the woods. The natural decks you take will fit your home and make the space more natural.

A cottage provides warm, natural and relax atmosphere. If the whole look of your cottage is related to nature, wild forest, and at the same time it make you feel comfortable and relaxed, you are successful in decorating a cottage. Keep in mind that decorating a cottage involves country home décor.
